"Old Pine St. Presbyterian"
Machine applique, fused applique, free-motion quilting, fabric paints.

This particular church in Society Hill, Philadelphia, has the prettiest pale yellow facade that glows at sunset. Many london plane/sycamore trees line the colonial graveyard, and their dappled bark frequently matches the dappled light that filters through their leaves onto the church walls. The church is particularly striking on autumn days when the sky is deep blue.

My art quilt is a compilation of several photographs that I took on an early autumn day, and I really felt compelled to include a smidgen of the incredibly deep blue sky - it helps bring out the blues in the stained glass, too.

I'd also created a watercolor of one of the arched windows, with a london plane tree (sycamore) next to it.
