"St. John's Abbey Church"
Cotton batiks, some hand-painted cottons, paper-pieced hexagons,
machine applique, free-motion quilting.
- Exhibited in St. John's Abbey, St. John's University, Collegeville, MN
- Published on front cover of St. John's U. alumni journal, "Conversatio," 2004.
Made for my sister, Danielle, for Christmas, 2003. Danielle
asked that I make her a quilt with something from the campus of her college, St. John's University in Minnesota, as the theme.
Using photographs I found on the school's website and others that she sent me, I thought a striking quilt would be a representation
of the beehive-shaped stained glass windows in their abbey, with a superimposed applique of the "bell banner" exterior of the church on one side.
